Who we are

My name is Sheldon Smith. I’m a lifetime resident of Catonsville Maryland, an attorney, and have a BA in U.S History. I am now launching my new organization, the Historical Society of Catonsville, to carry-on historic activities in Catonsville (the prior Catonsville Historical Society disbanded recently).

The purpose of the Organization is to: Research, document, publish and present the history of Catonsville and surrounding areas, and to also document and preserve remaining Catonsville historic locations and artifacts.

Organization Activities will include:

1) Periodic Facebook posts on Catonsville History ”Factoids” and stories. 

2) Periodic(4-6/year) public presentations. 

3) Historic Walks. 

4) On-location History videos. 

5) Identification and preservation of historic sites. 

6) Collection/display of artifacts.  

7) Installation of Historic Wayside Exhibits

8) Interviews of Historic location residents/caretakers
